FCAT

I guess everybody knows by now that this is FCAT week. In case you are not an insider within Florida's educational system, I'm here to let you know that everything stops during FCAT week. Episodes of mass hysteria emerge on a daily basis starting about two weeks before testing begins. It seems like everything rests on this test. That's why they call it high stakes testing. Preparation for FCAT begins on Day One of the school year. Unfortunately, the FCAT is all that is taught until mid March, when it is all over. Then teachers and students don't know what do with themselves. It really doesn't make for a very well rounded education. But hey, someday we'll have a generation of adults that know how to take a high stakes test. What more could you want?!!!

Too right! All part of our glorious leader's Leave Every Child Behind (except the ones in expensive private schools, like the rich upper class) progam. The point is to create an undereducated, docile lower class to serve as wage slaves for the small handful of mega-corporations (run by Bush's big contributors) that will ultimately control everything soon, unless we derail the evil NeoCon empire.
